Gabriëlskloof is a family-owned-and-run wine estate just outside Botrivier. The farm and vineyards were established in 2000, with its first vintage made in the cellar in 2009.
The Whole Bunch Syrah forms part of Gabriëlskloof’s Reserve Range, and is only bottled in outstanding vintages.
Botrivier has a Mediterranean climate, which means longer growing seasons with moderate to warm temperatures.The conditions leading up to the 2019 harvest were hot and dry for the fourth consecutive year, with prolonged drought conditions leading to even lower yields, resulting in smaller berries and concentrated flavours.
All the fruit was hand-picked, whole bunch (carbonic) fermented for ten days, pressed and taken off the lees and then aged in steel tanks for eight months.
The nose is lightly spicy with violets and savoury notes.The palate is deliciously fresh and crunchy, making it imminently drinkable.
