The 2018 vintage followed the lowest anual rainfall recorded in the last couple of decades and considered another hot and dry one. The white wines were generally bolder with big textures. The Tiernes Chenin blanc displays herbal aromatics with dried fynbos, honey blossom and aniseed. The profile diverted slightly from its usual acidic, citrus fruit-direction but has rather concentrated and complex quince, white pear and golden delicious apple flavours. The textures are typically Swartland with lanolin and beeswax with a rigid structure. A soft acidity adds depth and still keeps the wine fresh with flavours lingering for a long finish. This is a Chenin that would age execptionally well.
