This is the first vintage of Grenache Gris produced by Yo El Rey, and only 875 bottles were made in total. The fruit was picked from a block on the Voor-Paardeberg. Everything was destemmed and then fermented on the skins for 5 days in a plastic vessel. Grenache Gris skins have a beautiful pink touch to it, and so with a bit of skin-contact during fermentation, the wine picks up a lot of that colour (when usually Grenache Gris is produced as a white wine). The wine was then pressed using a basket press, settled for a day or two and then racked off the lees to old French oak. It aged for 6 months in barrel, and was bottled without fining but did undergo a coarse filtration. This wine hits the glass like a Rose, so expect a lot of beautiful, bright pink colours in the glass.
