Donkiesbaai Hooiwijn 2018


The label by Rust en Vrede is a celebration of Donkiesbaai, the Weskus home where the Engelbrecht family have their holidays for years. Using fruit sourced from specifically identified vineyards in the Cape.

The grapes for the Hooiwijn were harvested at optimal ripeness, and left on straw mats for 3 weeks to dry. This allows the sugars to concentrate and the flavour compounds to fully express themselves. The Chenin Blanc Straw wine is barrel fermented, and then matured in French oak barrels for 6 months before bottling.
