Gabriëlskloof Viognier 2014



“You try my Viognier you like my Viognier.” That’s right, Viognier – the ugly duckling of grapes – aint no ugly duckling here. This richer, barrel-fermented wine is made from a single vineyard planted on Bokkeveld shale outside Botriver. Viognier is usually quite high in sugar, resulting in high alcohol wines but the site at Gabriëlskloof gives natural high acidity at high sugar levels, both of which are unusual for South African Viognier.
