Alheit Vineyards Magnetic North Mountain Makstok 2014
NOT IN STOCK
From an old Chenin Blanc vineyard in the rather desolate Skurfberg area (Citrusdal) comes the Alheit’s second single-vineyard release, and it’s something special. Magnetic North Mountain Makstok: the name’s unquestionably a mouthful, but worth getting right. Makstok refers to the fact that it’s ungrafted, meaning the vines grow on their original roots – a rarity anywhere in the world. Minerality, intense fruit and loads of acidity… damn it, they’ve really nailed the wine this year. Blown it out the water. Hit the bullseye. You get the picture.
